Meknes Volubilis Tour from Fez to enjoy the history and architecture of two of Morocco’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Meknes is a beautiful city surrounded by 40 km of walls that contain countless architectural treasures. Volubilis is even older, containing the ruins of an ancient Roman capital from the early centuries AD.
You will be picked up from your hotel around 09:00 AM by your English speaking driver and transfer to Volubilis (approx. 1.5 hour) , enjoy the marvel at the well-preserved ruins of this Roman city and visit Moulay Idriss Zarhoun. Continue driving to Meknes, also known as the city of hundred minarets, because of its many mosques. Among them, the Great Mosque, probably founded in the 12th century, is remarkable for its gates with beautiful sculpted canopies. Its medina and the remains of the royal palace earned Meknes a place on the UNESCO world heritage list. The city is still prosperous, benefiting from the harvests of the fertile Saïs plains (grain, olives and grapes). You will be able to stroll around the city and take in its bustling atmosphere and have a look at the 40 km city wall and the famous Bab Mansour, one of the most beautiful gates in the world.
Finally you will be driven back to your Riad in Fez in the early evening. This trip takes approximately 08 hours.
